It's Nate's birthday, and I discharged my MIL duty - check!
My feelings about the Queen are that today could be a day of emotional storms - probably not for me since my mantra is "I don't give a shit", but lots of the folk around me are feeling stressed for one reason or another so I'll try not to push any buttons.

Dec 19 The 6 of Swords
There has been trouble, turmoil, upset, but I'm heading to safety and smooth waters. I need to pick my way amongst the obstacles and dangerous bits, but I have resources in the form of my sturdy boat, and good steady help in the form of my boatman. I am not alone.

Dec 17: The Queen of Swords
My card! Not to disparage the other lovely queens, but they ain't me. However, drawing this card is a reminder to guard my sharp tongue today. I'll be at a celebration of life, and surrounded by Not My People. I'll have my phone charged up, and a deck of cards in my pocket but I don't need tarot cards to tell me my husband will want to stay 2 hours longer than I will. Sigh.
Yesterday was a complete and total bust of a day. Little Numbnuts is so lost, and while I will help, I will not enable.
I must admit I'm looking forward to sailing off into the sunset, and leaving Wizard Girl holding the bag. Good luck, ladies.

December 16 Queen of Coins reversed
Pay attention to home. Don't spend too much time or energy on "outside" things. Focus on the things you enjoy (at work as well as home). Today I'll go through the filing cabinet and snag out the paper PO's for things I think we'll be buying at IHC and throw them into a file. I'll make lists and set up a binder of things to think about by department -
slots
player tracking
table games
security
snack bar
restaurant
IT
accounting
administration
marketing
human resources
surveillance
commission
incoming mail
outgoing mail
incoming packages
outgoing packages
I DO so love to organize.
I also want to have Pam pull a card for end of 2011/start of 2012.

Dec 14 - the 7 of Swords reversed
It's funny how some people see the man sneaking into the room - the leaves are on the outside, it's obvious he has stolen some of the swords (only the ones he can carry) and he is making his escape. He's not out of it yet, though, the bird could easily make a fuss and draw people to see what's going on, like a dog barking. This card is about deception; having something taken from you; being a sneak. The reverse means: if you do it, you will be caught.
You can't help it if something you did in the past is revealed today, though.
And it will be interesting to see if this behavior is revealed as coming at me, as well.
It's still cards...
Per DonnaLeigh (at Donnaleigh.com) the exercise was to draw one card to get guidance on answering 5 questions about the year that is passing, and the one that approaches. You are supposed to use the imagery on the card, what strikes your eye first, and use that imagery. I drew the 4 of Swords.
1. What did you learn this year? I saw the window; at first I thought about the light at the end of the tunnel but now I think it's "one door closes and another opens". But I like the light at the end of the tunnel as well.
2. What are you glad to release? I saw the black bird; negativity and fear is what I feel he represents. This has been a tough year, but Chuck and I have thrived and survived, had a little fun, gone through some changes. And it's all been good, eventually.
3. What do I look forward to? I saw the flowers; to me those are the positive things, the gifts, the hours and days I will enjoy for whatever reason. It smells good; it's pretty; it makes me laugh. I promise to enjoy "joy" more next year.
4. What are the lessons of the coming year? I saw the man; he is resting and at first I thought it was to take care of myself but now I'm starting to think it's to appreciate my people more. I promise to let the people I value know that I do.
5. What do I need to do to prepare? I saw the swords; but the swords are points-down so I don't think I'm going to have battles. I think it's to stay sharp, keep striving. Mental energy in stasis.
